Questions, answered

How the Suite works, where your designs are kept, and how to print them at the right size.

Getting started

What is Carnation Craft Suite?

A design studio for card makers that runs in your web browser. You can lay out card fronts, toppers, inserts and printable sheets using 290+ watercolour artworks, 25+ patterned papers and 55+ shapes, add greetings and verses, and print at exact sizes.

Do I need to install anything or create an account?

No. Open the Suite and start designing. There is no sign-up. It works best in Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a computer; Safari and Firefox work too.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes. After your first visit the Suite keeps working offline. You can also install it so it opens in its own window like any other app; the Download page shows how.

Saving your work

Where are my designs saved?

Your pages save automatically in the browser on the computer you are using. They stay there until you clear your browsing data.

To keep a design safe, or to work on it somewhere else, use Home, Save. This downloads a project file (ending in .ccstudio) that you can open again with Home, Open on any computer.

Can I save my design as a picture or PDF?

Yes. Home, Save as exports the page as a PNG or JPEG image or a PDF. Print, Save PDF makes a print-ready PDF at 300 dpi.

Can I use my own photos and artwork?

Yes. Use Add image, drag a file onto the page, or paste from your clipboard. Images you upload to My artwork stay in your browser and are not sent anywhere.

Printing

How do I print at exactly the right size?

Choose your paper size and orientation in the Print tab, then click Print. In your printer window set the scale to 100% or Actual size and turn off Fit to page.

My design does not line up with my die-cut sheet

Check the printer scale is set to 100% with Fit to page turned off, and that the page size in the Print tab matches the paper in your printer. Templates (in Bases) are alignment guides only and never print.

Downloads and asset packs

Is there a version I can download to my computer?

A desktop version for Mac and Windows is being prepared. Until then you can install the Suite from your browser for free; see the Download page.

What are asset packs?

Themed collections of watercolour artwork and papers that you can add to the Suite. They are being prepared now; the Asset packs page lists what is coming.

Still stuck? Open the Help tab in the Suite for the guide and keyboard shortcuts.
